Gesture Computing assumes that the environment can sense in some way gestures. A simple example would be the infrared sensor that operates the doors at your grocery store. A more complex approach example would be to have the room understand your voice along with the intent of your gesture. Speech recognition has come a long way along with ability to capture and measure movement in a 3D space. The ability to sense all these inputs requires that the computer not just be in the room but it becomes part of the room supporting ubiquitous natural human interaction. The video clips shown in this blog are just about 10 years old! Mark Lucente at that time with IBM demonstrates the state of the art of the late 1990s.
